IMI Webinar Series - Emerging Technologies in Terrazzo
Join us for a session on the evolution of terrazzo floor systems. We'll cover traditional cement sand cushion, epoxy, and new thin profile flowable cement innovations on the market. You'll learn about substrate preparation, application, on-site installation, and pre-manufactured elements like countertops and stairs. View mockups and installation demonstrations by experienced BAC craftworkers to illustrate the process stages, including membrane application, strip placement, terrazzo placement, grinding, and polishing for a smooth finish.
Learning Objectives:
- Explore unique design methodologies and components for the primary systems of cement and epoxy terrazzo and newly developed alternative systems.
- Discuss specialized conditions in a terrazzo floor, including crack control, moisture vapor treatments, coved and straight base, stair treads and risers, and adjacent finishes.
- View case studies, sustainable benefits, life cycle cost data, performance criteria, and unique design parameters.
- Observe a case study of installation sequences for terrazzo from substrate examination and preparation, mixing the components, pouring, grinding, polishing, and sealing.
