Design assist and delegated design are two important concepts in the construction industry. Design assist refers to the practice of involving subcontractors or specialists in the early stages of a project's design process. These collaborative approaches allow valuable input and expertise, optimizing the design for efficiency and constructability. Delegated design, on the other hand, involves the transfer of design responsibilities from the project's primary architects and engineers to subcontractors or specialized consultants. Join us as we explore the boundaries of what can be achieved through design assist and where it delivers the most significant benefits on masonry projects when you work with a qualified masonry subcontractor.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define design assist and how it differs from delegated design.
  • Evaluate when it makes sense to use design assist on a project.
  • Describe limitations and risks associated with design assist.
  • Explore case studies where design assist aided in a sustainable solution.
